Just 20 miles west of London, Windsor is a charming and historic market town, world famous for its castle. With a long history dating back to the 11th century, Windsor boasts a rich mix of period properties; from Tudor, Georgian and Victorian times – there is history and heritage everywhere you look. Windsor Castle itself is mentioned in the Domesday Book. The town is situated next to the River Thames, so there are some beautiful riverside locations. It is, in short, a perfect place for a bespoke special event – whether you’re planning to celebrate a birthday or are looking for a stunning setting for a romantic wedding. The biggest problem will be narrowing down your venue choices!

planning an event in Windsor

Go grand

Right by Windsor Castle is the historic Windsor Guildhall a Grade I-listed building completed in 1689. A stunning setting for any celebration, Prince Charles married Camilla here and Elton John also chose this venue for his civil partnership. Alternatively, escape the hub-bub of the town and host your party in the beautiful De Vere Beaumont Estate, which is surrounded by parkland, in Old Windsor. With a range of sumptuous suites available, your party could be for 40 or as many as 500 guests!

Book Your Own Party

Enjoy a luxury hotel

Windsor attracts tourists from all over the world and there are some amazing hotels in the area. Just opposite the Guildhall is the Castle Hotel, which occupies a gorgeous and elegant Georgian building. Party in one of the hotel’s 10 event spaces, stay overnight and enjoy exploring Windsor while you’re there!

Get racey

Racecourses can be a great venue for parties and in Windsor you have the choice of both Royal Windsor Racecourse and nearby Ascot Racecourse. There’s plenty of space both inside and out, and the views are fantastic! If you love horses – or just fancy a dressy affair – this could be the perfect setting for a themed party.

Party on the banks of the Thames…

How about considering something like the Boatman, a fabulous pub with amazing waterfront views. Originally built to serve the passing river trade during the 1800s, today it’s a much sought-after venue. The restaurant can accommodate up to 100 guests and there is a fantastic open terrace – an idyllic spot for a summer party!

…or on the river itself

Why stay in one place when you can hire a boat and travel along the Thames as you party. French Brothers are just one of several boat companies operating from Windsor. This particular company has a large fleet of luxury boats of varying sizes, so you can invite up to 150 friends and family. Remember to enjoy the scenery along the way!

Now choose an event management company to bring your event to life!
