Our story

Creative thinkers cool under pressure

Our story began back in 2008 when directors (and brothers) Mike and Neil founded MGN Events as creative event partners who were all about focussing on the details. Matthew, our creative director, joined a little later and the rest – as they say – is history.

Today we’re a multi-award winning team of event planners, creators and big thinkers who have put on events in some of the world’s finest venues. We work hard, relish every challenge and love partnering with clients to push the boundaries of a brief. It’s what gets us out of bed every morning. That and coffee. Lots of coffee…

Meet the team

Big thinkersMaster plannersCreative can-doers

Mike
Managing Director

Mike’s the one steering the MGN ship—usually while pacing the office mid-call with a coffee in one hand and his phone permanently glued to the other. With his 20+ years of events experience under his belt, as Managing Director, he’s all about growth, strategy, and spotting the potential in places most people wouldn’t look.

Known for balancing big vision with even bigger energy, Mike’s loud on the phone, louder about ideas, and always ready with a one-liner to keep things fun. He sees the opportunity in everything (seriously, everything) and has a sixth sense for when to go all in and when to play it smart.

When he’s not running the show, he’s watching Blackburn Rovers (bravely), travelling the world to cheer on England, or deep in a new wine discovery—preferably with his family, who are his biggest motivation and the reason he does what he does.

Neil
Production Director

Neil is the man who makes things work — literally. As Co-founder and Production Director, he’s the behind-the-scenes maestro making sure systems run smoothly, budgets behave, and chaos stays firmly at the door. Whether he’s streamlining operations, wrangling spreadsheets, or introducing a new bit of kit that makes everyone’s life easier, Neil’s all about working smarter (never harder).

Known for his logic, love of a good process, and occasional obsession with Google Sheets, he’s the one people turn to when something breaks, stops, or just needs fixing fast. He might fly under the radar, but trust us — the place wouldn’t run without him.

When he’s not knee-deep in automation tools or tech upgrades, Neil’s probably got a power drill in one hand and a cold beer in the other. A DIY enthusiast with a soft spot for gadgets, he’s as handy at home as he is at HQ.

Matthew
Creative Director

Matthew’s the brains behind the big ideas—and the reason there’s always decent coffee in the kitchen. As Creative Director, he’s equal parts visionary and vibe-bringer, known for turning wild thoughts into wow moments (often while sipping a mysterious vitamin drink and quoting early-2000s comedies).

He keeps things light but purposeful, gets the best out of people by seeing who they really are, and brings a bit of humour to even the most serious brainstorm. If he’s laughing, chances are you will be too.

Creative chaos? He lives for it. But when it’s time to deliver, he’s got a clear head, sharp eye, and a knack for making things happen—fast.

Outside of work, you’ll find him cooking up a storm, pottering in the garden, catching a show, or herding his delightfully chaotic family (with love, of course)!

Kat
Head of Event Management

If you’ve got a question about an event, a client, or a job number from 2018—ask Kat. With nearly seven years at MGN, she’s our walking archive, sounding board, and all-round event whisperer. As Head of Event Management, she doesn’t just lead the team—she anchors it, offering calm perspective, sharp solutions, and the kind of detail obsession that makes good events unforgettable.

Kat’s the person you call when you need clarity, a plan, or just someone to tell you it’s all going to be fine (and actually mean it). Known for her thoughtful leadership, avocado enthusiasm, and tendency to invent the occasional word, she strikes the perfect balance between creative flair and operational precision.

When she’s not elevating events, you’ll find Kat balancing pilates with pastries, chasing sunshine (and a great plate of something), or quietly working her way toward avocado world domination—one brunch at a time.

Jamie
Production Manager

The steady hand at the helm of all things production. As Production Manager, he’s the one who takes wild creative ideas and makes them happen — smoothly, safely, and on time (give or take the occasional internal meeting). From site visits to show builds, Jamie’s got a plan, a backup plan, and usually a cable or two in his pocket, just in case.

He’s known for his calm-under-pressure energy, eye for detail, and a love of structure that would make a spreadsheet weep with joy. He calls it high standards — and the team wouldn’t have it any other way. Need a decision made fast? Jamie’s your guy. Just don’t forget to factor in a decent coffee stop en route.

Outside of work, he’s all about music, motors, and a pint at the pub. Whether he’s chasing down the next festival or soaking up the roar of an American muscle car, Jamie’s weekends are as full-on as his show days.

Clare
Head of Live

Keeping the engine running, she’s the calm in the chaos, making sure everything the team delivers is on point, on time, and even better than promised. Whether she’s guiding a project, mentoring the team, or giving a perfectly-timed nudge to keep things moving, she’s got it covered. Known for her straight-talking style and laser-sharp attention to detail, she leverages her 15+ years of event management experience and thrives in the middle of the action, juggling a million moving parts without breaking a sweat.

She’s a creature of habit (see: weekly Gail’s coffee, every Wednesday without fail) but don’t expect the same reliability from her phone – it’s either missing or mysteriously off.

Outside of work, she’s either lifting heavy things in the gym (qualified PT, no big deal), baking something delicious, or chasing a toddler at top speed – all of which somehow still counts as “downtime.”

Amélie
Head of Sales

Amélie doesn’t just bring in business—she brings the vibe. Equal parts strategy and sparkle, she’s the one with the pitch plan, the backup pitch plan, and a motivational playlist ready to go before 9am. She thinks like a client, acts like a coach, and somehow still remembers your cousin’s dog’s name from that one meeting in 2021.

Known for her quick-fire voice notes, next-level intuition, and oddly British phone voice (despite being very French), she’s got a sixth sense for what clients really want—even when they don’t know it yet. If you see her pacing mid-call, just know she’s solving three problems in her head while also planning a two-course lunch.

Loves: countryside walks, five-star stays, wellness rituals, and champagne days. Hates: cheap white wine, missed details, and three-star hotels (she’ll survive, but she won’t enjoy it).

Hanneke
Senior Event Manager

Hanneke is the one making sure everyone’s fed, watered, hugged, and (importantly) laughing—while casually running flawless events behind the scenes. She’s got a knack for turning client dreams into dazzling realities, especially if the brief is quirky, ambitious, or delightfully unusual. She asks all the questions (really—all of them), thinks on her feet, and thrives under pressure like it’s a competitive sport.

Her superpowers include loud phone chats, giving exactly the look her face is thinking, and delivering top-tier events with a touch of 5-star flair. Think Soho House energy, never Travelodge vibes. Ever.

Outside the office, she’s loving life with her husband, three kids, and dog Reggie, sipping Provence rosé with her girlfriends, planning her next Ibiza escape, or hosting another fabulous get-together. Expect big energy, bigger laughs, and hugs on demand.

Hannah
Designer

Hannah (or Han to her friends) is our in-house creative force—turning ideas into scroll-stopping visuals. Always thoughtful, always on brand, and always with a smile. Whether it’s a pitch deck, an event identity or the perfect palette, she brings calm creativity and just the right amount of sparkle to every brief.

Her vibe? Immaculate. Always. Playlist on, hot tea in hand, desk spotless—then the design magic begins. Known for insisting on creating mood boards for every life decision. Buying a toaster? Better make a Pinterest board called “Golden Brown Vibes.”

Her superpower? Making things look cool—effortlessly.

Outside of work, you’ll find Han out running or hiking with a grin, chasing views as beautiful as the ones she designs.

Megan
Event Manager

Powered by iced lattes, Coke Zero, and good vibes, Megs is the human version of a hug with a to do list. She’s got a gift for making everyone feel welcome – clients, teammates, even the postman – and somehow finds time to support everyone else while staying across every tiny detail.

A firm believer in daily gratitude lists and detailed terms and conditions, she brings positive energy, laughs and emojis to every project. She does, however, drink enough caffeine to power a small city, then wonders why she’s anxious.

Outside of work (and oversharing in the team group chat)? She’s planning her next holiday, cuddling her dogs (Saffi and Tiggy) or mentally furnishing her dream home. Legally it’s someone else’s – décor wise, it’s 100% Megs.

Gethin
Production Technician

Gethin’s the guy behind the glow-up—literally. From subtle uplighting to full-on festival-style brilliance, he’s the one making sure every event shines with that signature MGN sparkle (and not a single LED out of place).

Chill, clever, and always ready with a joke, Gethin keeps the tech smooth, the warehouse in check, and the odd socks in rotation—every single day. No, he doesn’t own a matching pair. Yes, it’s a choice.

When he’s not making your event look effortlessly epic, he’s fencing his way through the national rankings (seriously—top 350 in the UK) or rewatching Back to the Future like it’s a documentary. Great with lights, better with an Épée, and always happy to help.

Dan
Senior Event Manager

Dan brings the energy, the calm, and the kettle. Known for creating standout events and standout team spirit, he’s the kind of person who gets things done without ever losing his smile (or his tea). He’s got a knack for making work feel fun, even when the pressure’s on—blending professionalism with just the right amount of cheekiness. Always up for a walking meeting, a new challenge, or a cuppa (seriously, don’t forget his), Dan is the person clients trust and teams rely on.

His secret power? Turning high-stakes events into feel-good experiences for everyone involved—clients, guests, and colleagues alike.

Outside of work, life is full-on with three energetic kids, a dog, and a tennis racquet that occasionally sees the light of day. He’s a family man, a runner, and always ready for a good party… especially if he’s the one planning it. Oh, did we mention he likes tea?

Catherine
Senior Event Manager

The pocket rocket of the team – full of energy, positivity, and a can-do attitude. She’s the cool, calm force behind the scenes, looking after clients, budgets, and proposals with effortless grace and always with a smile.

Whether she’s twirling her hair (spoiler: it’s still not curly), cracking a joke, or bursting into laughter, Catherine’s bubbly personality makes even the busiest days feel a little brighter. Outside of work, you’ll find her tapping her way through a dance class, catching the latest show at the theatre, or indulging her undeniable love of chocolate.

Need something done with positivity and sparkle? Catherine’s your girl.

Beth
Event Co-ordinator

Beth is the not-so-secret weapon behind the scenes—supporting the Event Managers, keeping the wheels turning, and making sure no detail slips through the cracks (while cracking a few jokes along the way).

She’s known for being chatty, cheerful, and just the right amount of particular—especially when it comes to her highly scheduled coffee breaks. Seriously, don’t mess with the caffeine calendar.

Her superpower? Lifting others up. Whether she’s solving a problem, spotting what’s missing, or just being that solid “you’ve got this” presence, she brings quiet confidence and great vibes to the team.

Outside of work, she swaps event briefs for hockey sticks and has travelled the world in search of the perfect cricket match. If there’s a sport, a story, or a strong flat white—Beth’s already there.

Lottie
Events Assistant

If there’s laughter coming from the corner of the office, it’s probably Lottie. Equal parts organiser and entertainer, she’s the first to jump in with venue options, take killer notes (with bonus sass), and somehow keep the team’s socials on point—all while shivering in three layers and still asking if anyone else is cold.

Lottie’s a natural storyteller, a relentless oversharer, and the kind of person who gives everyone a giggle and gets stuff done. Need cheering up? She’s got a GIF for that. Need someone to action 12 tasks before lunch? Done—and she’ll spill the latest gossip while doing it.

Outside of work, she’s cruising (literally), cocktail-sipping, car-spotting, or planning her next night out. She may have FOMO, but honestly… you’ll want her there anyway.

Nathan
Events Assistant

Need a hand, a hammer, or someone to put the festoon lighting up for the fifteenth time? Nathan’s your guy. Always helpful, always friendly, and mostly fun to be around—just make sure he’s had lunch first.

From last-minute setups to keeping the office running like a well-oiled (if slightly snack-fuelled) machine, he’s the one the team turns to when something needs doing now. Not quite a perfectionist, but definitely not a quitter, he’s got a “yes” for every job… and a football take ready to go whether you asked or not.

When he’s not saving the day, you’ll find Nathan in the gym, shouting at Arsenal, or deep in a podcast rabbit hole while lifting things heavier than your to-do list. Bonus points if there’s food involved.

Gary Duarte MGN Events
Gary
Marketing Manager

From strategy to socials, data dives to digital campaigns, Gary is the engine behind the MGN Events’ marketing machine. With marketing experience spanning three decades – 11 of which spent in events marketing – he crafts content, spots trends, and finds creative ways to connect the dots – all while making sure the brand shines across every platform.

Friendly, focused, and forever fine-tuning, Gary’s the kind of perfectionist who notices the details that makes campaigns shine! If you catch him stroking his beard, he’s not lost in thought – he’s solving the next big marketing challenge. Super adaptable; whether it’s a last-minute campaign or a surprise request, Gary’s always ready to jump in and make it happen.

Outside of work, Gary’s usually exploring the French countryside with his dog, kayaking, reading, or donning one of his signature waistcoats. Oh, and fun fact – he played American Football for England. Casual.

MGN Events Dog
Luna
CCO

The furry four-legged heart of the office – a tail-wagging, snack-stealing bundle of joy, who takes her role as Chief Cuddle Officer very seriously. Whether it’s greeting every visitor like they are the first human she has ever seen or making her daily rounds to check in on the team (and their lunch), she’s always on the move.

Wiggly, loveable, and 100% food-motivated, Luna brings joy, oxytocin boosts and just the right amount of chaos. Known for stealing Nathan’s shoes, hijacking team meetings for the best seat, and sniffing out snacks with military precision, she’s a master of lightening the mood and lifting spirits.

Outside of work, she lives her best life on woodland sniffaris, playing stick-hide-and-seek, chasing bubbles in the garden with her little humans, and, of course, relocating every shoe and sock in the house to places no one would ever think to look.
