The Brief
How do you celebrate turning 40 with family and friends in style, while keeping the kids entertained? We knew exactly how to ensure that guests of all ages had an amazing time at our client’s birthday party, held at her home in Cobham, Surrey.
The Solution
We set up a 21 x 12m marquee, which was then divided into two areas. As guests arrived, they were given the VIP red carpet treatment before entering the reception area. Window walls and clear roof panels at this end of the marquee brought the outside inside and created a connection with an outdoor seating area, which was lit with oil torches – guests could then enjoy the mild Spring evening before moving inside. The reception/buffet area was dressed in white and a 4-metre diameter circular bar created a stylish focal point.
Moving further into the marquee, it was time for partying! Black tassel walls, black ceiling, mirror balls, black starlit dancefloor, VIP areas, a stage for the band – we created a personal nightclub for our client and her guests, and one that stayed open until 3am! For the younger guests we arranged a face painter and balloon modeler, provided a child-friendly menu and their very own cinema room in a smaller, attached marquee with comfy bean bags and a 60” flat screen. Setting up a catering tent and installing luxury loos meant that guests and suppliers alike didn’t need to use the house itself.
We also arranged a buffet that was, quite literally, a visual feast and created its own wow factor. A stunning seafood buffet bar included lobster, oysters, freshly prepared scallops and crevettes.
Following a range of other buffet options for mains, we then designed a gorgeous desert table with macrons, giant marshmallows and a mixed variety of other small puddings!
