The Golden Wedding Anniversay Brief
What our client wanted for their 50th wedding anniversary
Fifty years of marriage deserved a party of a lifetime. Our client wanted to mark their golden wedding anniversary with a summer tipi party in the beautiful grounds of their Kent home, surrounded by family and close friends. The brief was clear: create something warm, relaxed and genuinely memorable. Not a formal sit-down dinner but a party with personality. Great food, live entertainment and an atmosphere that would feel natural in their beautiful English garden setting.
They wanted every guest to leave thinking it was one of the best parties they had ever been to… Challenge Accepted!

How we brought a 50th anniversary garden party to life
How we set the scene for a golden wedding anniversary party
The clients’ garden provided a stunning natural canvas. We installed several sizes of tipi tent across the grounds to create distinct spaces for drinks, dining and dancing, each one flowing naturally into the next.
Inside, we designed the styling around the warmth of the tipis themselves. Barrels and milk churns, rattan furniture, throws and scatter cushions created an English countryside feel that suited the setting perfectly. Over 250 stems of roses and summer flowers dressed the tables, while garlands of hops and 85 metres of fairy lights brought the tents to life as the evening drew in.
What food works best for a summer garden party?
For outdoor anniversary celebrations, food stations with gourmet barbecue and a wood-fired pizza oven work better than formal plated service. Guests move at their own pace, the atmosphere stays relaxed, and the food itself becomes a talking point.
The kind of menu that feels generous and informal, but where the quality speaks for itself. Guests could move between food stations at their own pace, keeping the atmosphere relaxed throughout the afternoon. The client didnt want a formal feel of a seated sit down finner served, but instead a posh BBQ and guests would take their seats at a table together, but serve themselves. A nice touch to keep the feeling relaxed.

How to structure entertainment across an all-day celebration
The celebration unfolded in layers. It opened with duck and geese herding, complete with trained sheepdogs. It was unexpected, funny, and got every guest involved from the start.
During the drinks reception, a close-up magician worked the crowd while a jazz trio played. Over dinner, singing waiters surprised the room and lifted the energy. And as the evening turned, a five-piece band took over with live dance music that kept the party going late into the night.
Every element was timed to build on the last, so the energy built through the day.
What makes a milestone anniversary party feel personal
This was not a generic party cut and paste job. Every element, from the hand-written place cards to the fire pits dotted around the garden, was chosen to reflect who our clients are and how they wanted their guests to feel. That is what turns a good party into one people remember for years.
A golden wedding anniversary celebration at home should feel personal to the couple at its centre, with every detail reflecting who they are rather than following a standard event template
