Planning a surprise birthday party is so much easier when you give someone else the responsibility. And that’s just what happened when we were asked to arrange a 50th surprise birthday party for our client’s husband. With many of the family guests coming from abroad to attend the party, our client wanted to ensure an experience that would make everyone very happy to have travelled so far.
Our client utilised our venue-finding service and, from a shortlist of available venues, selected The Gherkin. Not only is it one of the most iconic buildings in central London, it offers breathtaking views of the city and the restaurant is, of course, renowned for its superb fine dining menus.
We took over two of the private dining spaces. In the first, guests were welcomed with a champagne reception and prepared for the surprise when the man of the moment arrived. Just in case he was in any doubt when he entered the room, we created a bespoke gobo light to emphasise the occasion. Everyone was then ushered in to the other room where a sit-down dinner was served. Each table setting was embellished with a sparkling gold runner, and a stylish crystal ball candle holder created a visually impactful centrepiece.
Whilst guests were eating, we transformed the reception space into a dance room so that celebrations could continue late into the night. Lighting set the atmosphere and our DJ kept the dance floor full of dancing guests!
