Group Managing Director
Objective
Our regular client partnered with MGN Events to deliver their annual company away day, a key moment in their cultural calendar. The objective was twofold: to communicate a clear company update and strategic direction for the second half of the year, while giving their team a chance to step back from day-to-day operations and enjoy a shared experience that would inspire, connect and re-energise them.
Crucially, they wanted to focus the budget on the guest experience – delivering high impact and lasting value without unnecessary excess. The challenge was to balance business objectives with fun, in a setting that felt relaxed, exciting and distinctly different from the day-to-day.

The Brief
We were asked to create a seamless, full-day offsite that would combine structured company communication with a high-energy celebration. Our client wanted a “serious and social” balance; an inspiring business session followed by a festival-themed party, all within a setting that felt fresh and memorable.
They needed an experienced events partner to manage everything from creative concepting and venue sourcing to guest logistics, production, and every detail in between.

What we did
MGN were brought on board to act as a strategic event agency partner to design, plan and deliver the entire experience from end to end. Our remit included:
- Creative concept development – crafting a dual-purpose event that felt cohesive across the day
- Venue sourcing and management – identifying and securing a perfect offsite location that could support both a company update and a private festival
- Delegate and guest logistics – managing accommodation, travel, on-site movement and activity sign-ups
- Experience design and production – curating décor, styling, lighting, entertainment, and AV to bring the festival vision to life
- Catering and drinks – shaping a relaxed food and beverage experience that kept things sociable and stress-free
- On-the-day delivery – overseeing every detail from setup to pack-down, across multiple venues on-site
We acted as a true extension of the client’s team, solving logistical challenges behind the scenes, keeping the day flowing seamlessly, and ensuring every guest felt genuinely looked after.

We selected Whittlebury Park in Northamptonshire for its blend of excellent facilities and open green space. Perfect for a corporate offsite with a festival twist.
The day kicked off in Atrium 1905, where the leadership team delivered company updates in a professional but welcoming setting. From there, guests made their way to the Pavilion grounds, where we’d transformed the space into a vibrant, private festival.
A large stretch tent formed the central hub, providing shelter from the heat as well as a weatherproof base, with a range of occasional seating, playful lighting, colourful branding, and creative signage spread across the site to bring the concept to life. We designed every element to encourage conversation, movement, and moments of connection, with a dedicated DJ booth and foliage photo wall adding energy and personality.

The activity programme included a Crystal Maze-inspired team challenge, injecting a bit of healthy competition before the evening festivities began.
As the sun set, the away day evolved into a full-blown festival party with glitter artists, an inflatable rodeo bull, live saxophonist, DJ, fire dancer and roaming entertainment building an atmosphere that was high-energy but never over the top.

Food and drink followed suit: relaxed, abundant, and made for mingling. Think hot and cold buffet for lunch, followed by festival-style BBQ, build-your-own stations, and an indulgent dessert area in the evening, all served alongside open bar access and drinks stations designed to keep queues to a minimum.
To make life easy for guests, we also handled accommodation, activity bookings, in-room luggage delivery, and all on-site logistics ensuring smooth transitions across the day, despite multiple locations in play.

The Results
The event was a clear success, both in atmosphere and impact. Guests shared their experiences across LinkedIn, reflecting a sense of pride, belonging and enjoyment and gave an overall rating for the company away day of 99% positive. Internally, our client reported strong engagement and renewed momentum as teams returned to work energised, connected and aligned.
