The Brief
Marquee House Extension, London
Our client contacted us to help create a marquee house extension to extend their stunning kitchen into a nightclub room for their daughter’s birthday party at their modern terraced house in Fulham.
They wanted something bold, fun and atmospheric, yet still beautifully connected to the style of their modern terraced house. The heart of the party needed to sit just beyond the kitchen, with guests able to flow naturally from the warmth of the house into a full nightclub experience.
The space, however, was far from straightforward. The garden was compact and lined with artificial grass, which meant conventional marquee fixings were out of the question. A striking full-width illuminated glass floor stretched across the rear of the house, revealing their converted basement below. It was a brilliant architectural feature but one that required careful thinking to incorporate safely and seamlessly. And, of course, the event took place in December, which meant whatever we built needed to be fully weatherproof, heated and able to withstand winter conditions without compromising the experience.
In short, the brief called for creative problem solving, technical precision and a design that felt intentional rather than improvised. Exactly the sort of challenge we love.

The Solution
As expert marquee party planners, we are no strangers to complex marquee builds including marquee house extensions. Our idea was to attach a 9m x 6m blacked out marquee past their bifold doors. We wanted to create a visually stunning marquee house extension that incorporated their beautiful glass floor. We created an area large enough for dancing so our client and her party guests could celebrate her birthday in style, in the middle of December (complete with heating!).
The interior was designed as a compact but energetic nightclub (we took inspiration from the birthday girl’s favourite local hot spot The Little Blue Door). We installed a professional DJ setup with a sleek lighting rig, layered with uplighters around the perimeter to add warmth and dimension. Pink and green gobo lighting danced across the space, creating movement and giving the room a lively club feel. Every detail worked together to deliver an atmosphere that felt polished, elevated and perfectly suited to a teenage celebration.

The Experience
From the moment guests arrived, the space delivered exactly the vibe our client was hoping for. The transition between house and marquee felt natural and stylish, and the heated interior meant the December weather went unnoticed. Once the music started, the room transformed fully into a private nightclub, with the illuminated glass floor becoming a conversation piece throughout the night.
The party flowed beautifully, with parents and teens alike moving freely between the kitchen and the marquee. The birthday girl had the unforgettable celebration she had envisioned, and the family were able to relax and enjoy the night knowing every detail had been considered and managed.
This project showcased how even the most challenging domestic spaces can be transformed into something extraordinary when design, technical expertise and creativity work hand in hand.
