Objective
This leading UK digital rail technology company believes in rewarding people for their hard work and commitment. As a business they really understand the importance of investing in people beyond training and CPD opportunities. It’s also about saying thank you, celebrating success and having fun. Which is why the company’s Christmas party is always an annual highlight.
The brief
One of our longstanding collaborations, we’ve organised our client’s Christmas events for many years. We know what works well, but we never rest on our laurels and always look to make every party even better than the last – our brief is essentially ‘the same but different’.
What we did
With 500 guests to accommodate, finding the perfect venue for the preferred date can be a challenge, particularly during the festive season, but we know where to look and our venue search led us to Between the Bridges. Better known perhaps as an outdoor street market on London’s Southbank, it can also be transformed into a perfect party venue – even in the winter months when the space is covered and fully heated.
With catering on site, and stage, DJ booth, photo booth and basic lighting in situ, we were able to focus on design and creativity. Our client loved the idea of après ski as the theme, which gave us loads of inspiration. We cleverly transformed the DJ booth into a gondola lift, complimented by a printed facsimile of a pair of skis on stage. Faux sheepskin covers and blankets arranged over bench seating added an alpine vibe. The venue’s lighting was augmented with a mix of LED battens, pixel sticks, movers and strobes, along with uplighters and spotlights to highlight key features.
There was lots of fun to be had throughout the evening. As guests arrived they were greeted by roaming performers. Dressed in retro one-piece ski suits and lit up by hundreds of LEDs, our skiers – performing on specially designed segways – interacted with everyone and their energy was infectious. They also performed an amazing dance set on stage later in the evening. Giving guests their own taste of skiing, we installed a two-player alpine ski simulator in which players race each other over a downhill course – there was plenty of friendly competition. Meanwhile, Snowball Splat Frenzy proved a fun test of speed and hand-eye coordination.
Guests dined beneath rafters decorated with massive baubles and festive garlands. Wooden tables and bench seating gave the feel of an alpine bar, and we worked with three of the resident food vendors to serve a satisfying selection of fried chicken, pizza and street food. In amongst the dancing and partying, guests took advantage of the magic mirror photo booth. We created a rustic wooden backdrop dressed with a festive garland and branded decorations, plus lots of fun props to use, and lots of fun, lasting memories were created.
